This coal fired power station is in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. In 2008 China officially became the world's largest emitter of carbon dioxide, largely driven by its ever increasing demand for energy most of which is met by producing electricity from coal fired power stations. China is building a new coal fired power station every week and has huge reserves of coal, much of which is very low grade and highly polluting.
