Life size model of a Triceratops dinosaur, a large, heavy herbivore that lived in what is now North America in the late Cretaceous period, some 72 to 65 million years ago. The neck frill and the three horns on its head are thought to have been of use in fights between rival males or in defense against enemies. Triceratops could reach an overall length near to ten meters. This replica is set up in the Botanical gardens of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
