Red hartebeest (Ancelaphus buselaphus caama). This antelope inhabits grassland and savannah in sub- Saharan Africa. Their name derives from the distinctive heart shape formed by the curve of their horns when viewed from the front. It lives in large herds that often contain other antelopes and zebras. Both sexes have horns. It feeds on grasses. Photographed in the Auob riverbed of the Kgalagadi transfrontier park in Southern Africa.
