The Netherlands are notoriously flat and low lying, with 50 per cent of the country lying below sea level. Climate change is leading to both sea level rise and increased flooding, both of which threaten properties. One solution is to build floating houses, that rise and fall with altering water levels. Ijburg, a suburb of Amsterdam is the floating house capital, with increasing numbers of floating houses being constructed. This shot shows the tethering system that allows the houses to move up and down , but prevents them from floating away.
