At the back of Oaxaca City lies a large market where it is possible to buy almost everything. It is the day before the Catholic Festival 'Semana Santa' known world-wide as Easter. In the middle of the market is an old Mexican lady who is selling her large collection of peanuts. She sits in the shade of the large tarpaulin hanging above. The nuts have dried thoroughly in the strong sun and the vendor sifts throught he nuts looking for ones that have already cracked open and are therefore not sellable. She wears a checkered grey and dark blue apron over traditional mexican dress. Her hnads are dark and worn. The nuts are a mixture of light and dark brown with some of the nuts looking quite roasted in there golden shells. The nuts lie in a random selection of wicker baskets, wooden crates, straw sacks and plastic tubs. On the right of shot sits the Mexican lady, her straight white hair glistening and indigenous and ageing face looking down over her produce.
