A ????Distressed Seasonal Migrant Worker????, works at a salt plant, in Tutcorin, Tamilnadu, India. This type of temporary migration is a growing phenomenon in the dry regions of India. Drought and lack of alternative works in their native villages force families to migrate for three to six months in search of work. About 10 to 30 million people migrate to a range of industrial and agro-industrial sectors such as brick manufacture, salt making, sugar cane harvesting, stone quarrying, and construction.
