Daemen, a member of the Cologne cathedral chapter and archbishop of Adrianople, commissioned the monument himself during his lifetime. The cylindrical black marble plaque bearing the inscription is framed by an intricate architectural structure, flanked by twin marble columns on each side, and crowned by a bust of the deceased in a medallion. A masterful carving of a cope is spread out over the curved base.
