Seal of Edward Balliol, Obverse Impression of the seal of Edward Balliol, King of the Scots. The king is enthroned, with a crown, and wearing a loose vestment with the mantle fastened across the cheSt He holds a sceptre in the right hand, and in the left hand, an orb on a small cushion. The throne is of carved tabernacle work, with crocketted pinnacles; the two nearest the head of the king have doves perched on top, facing each other. Either side of the throne is a heraldic shield, one with a lion rampant, the other, an orle Originally published in Scotland; circa 1332.
