Bonnet macaque (Macaca radiata) grooming its tail. Grooming involves removing dead skin, debris and insects from the skin and fur. This monkey is so named because of the bonnet-shaped patch of hair on its head. It reaches a body length of between 35 and 60 centimetres. It eats ripe fruits, leaves and insects, and lives in groups in evergreen and deciduous forests. Photographed in Periyar National Park, Kerala, southern India.
