Damien Hurst's Verity statue. This stainless steel and bronze sculpture, on Ilfracombe Pier, Devon, UK, is by British artist Damien Hurst (born 1965). It depicts a naked pregnant woman, standing on a pile of law books, holding a sword aloft, and clutching the scales of justice. Erected in 2012, it is the tallest statue in the UK at 20.25 metres. Verity shows the skin cut away on the right-hand side to reveal musculature, skeleton and the unborn foetus. Photographed in 2012.
