Biblical plagues. 14th-century manuscript illustration of two of the plagues visited upon Egypt in the biblical book of Exodus (part of the Old Testament). At top is the plague of boils. At bottom is the plague of hail. There were ten plagues in total, with these being the sixth and seventh. This illustration was produced on vellum for a 14th-century edition of the manuscript known as the 'Brother Haggadah'. This Jewish text (Sephardi Hebrew script at top and bottom) was produced in Catalonia in around the 1370s. It is 'brother' to the Rylands Haggadah.
