Ferenc Krausz and Sune Svanberg. Portrait of the Hungarian-Austrian physicist Ferenc Krausz (born 1962, left) standing with the Swedish nuclear physicist Sune Svanberg. Krausz is best known as the leader of the research team that generated and measured the first attosecond light pulse and used it for capturing electrons' motion inside atoms, marking the birth of attophysics. Svanberg's research includes laser spectroscopy, interactions of high-intensity optical fields with matter, and applications of laser technology and spectroscopy in environmental measurement technology and medicine.
