Suwannee Canal, man made in 1891 to attempt to drain the swamp to facilitate logging and eventual crop cultivation, Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, Florida, USA. May 2011. The Okefenokee is the largest peat-based blackwater swamp in North America.
