William Lawrence Bragg (1890-1971), British physicist, as an undergraduate. Bragg, the son of William Henry Bragg, was born in Australia, graduating from the University of Adelaide in 1908. The family moved back to the UK and Bragg studied at Trinity College, at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 1911. He worked on the diffraction of X-rays by crystals (1912) and developed Bragg's Law concerning this diffraction. He discussed this work with his father, resulting in the X-ray spectrometer and a joint award of the 1915 Nobel Prize in Physics. Bragg junior was made a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1921, and knighted in 1941.
