Ant-lion (Myrmeleon sp.) larva. Named due to its predatory nature and small size, the ant-lion larva or doodlebug feeds on crawling insects that fall into feeding pits. These pits are dug by the larva and are usually 4 centimetres (cm) deep by 4cm wide. It is found mostly in the tropics, but also southern Europe. Photographed in Poland.
