Naval torpedo bombers in echelon (diagonal formation) at Hawaii in the Pacific. These bombers are late-production models of the Douglas DT-2, from the Douglas Aircraft Company, in service from 1922 to 1928. They have been modified with floats to allow them to land on water. A total of 64 DT-2 bombers were built. They carried a crew of two, were just under 12 metres long, had a wooden propeller, and were armed with a machine gun and a single aerial torpedo. These DT-2 bombers are being operated by the US Navy. This photograph is from the Bain News Service, one of the USA's earliest news picture libraries.
