Astronomical rotula from 1799. This device can be used to predict dates and times for astronomical events such as the rising and setting of the Sun, Moon and stars, Full and New Moons, and eclipses. Designed by George Margetts (1748-1804). The parts move (held together by the pin at centre) and can be turned to predict the desired event up to 6000 years in the past or future.
