Cartwheel galaxy. Composite image of the core of the Cartwheel Galaxy photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) in blue and infrared light. The galaxy was hit by another galaxy, much of its outer gas and dust now seen as a large, bright ring. The core has begun to resume its original spiral form, as seen by the bright arms and dark dust lanes. The reddish colour of the core indicates a high density of dust with embedded star formation. Bright pin-points of light are large, young star clusters. Compare with R826/059.
