A blue supergiant star shines with a bright blue light because of its large mass. This also means that it burns out more quickly, being short-lived for a star. If it is massive enough, it will also suffer a different fate to that of the Sun, ending as a neutron star or black hole. The Sun is a medium- sized star that shines with a yellow light.
