Capricornus. Coloured historical artwork of the constellation of Capricornus. The constellation is depicted as a sea-goat. Capricornus is the tenth sign of the Zodiac. The Sun is in Capricornus between 22 December and 19 January. It is an inconspicuous constellation, with no bright stars. The Sun's path, the ecliptic, is seen as a black and red line at centre. This artwork is based on a sky map by the Polish-German astronomer Johannes Hevelius (1611-1687), which was published posthumously in 1690.
