The constellation of Orion, the Hunter, is one of the most conspicuous in the sky. Lying on the celestial equator, it is visible from most parts of the world. The three stars forming Orion's Belt are seen just to the left of centre. The bright yellow star above the belt is Betelgeuse (Alpha Orionis), a red supergiant star. The bright star at bottom centre is Rigel (Beta Orionis). Also visible is Orion's Sword, with the distinctive, red Orion Nebula at its centre. The bright star in the bottom left corner is Sirius. (North is at top). Sep 11, 1986. 5 min exposure. 35-105 zoom Nikkor at f/4. Fujichrome 100 + 1. Anza site.
