False-colour version of an engraving of a dissected torso from Plate 6 of the 5th Book of De Humani Corporis Fabrica (On the Structure of the Human Body) by Andreas Vesalius, first published in 1543. The original caption to this plate, one of a series dealing with an abdominal dissection, reads: The sixth figure of the fifth book follows the thrid in the sequence of dissection and shows the liver, stomach and intestines in their true positions..... There is some debate as to the identity of the artists. Some scholars believe Titian may have been involved & certainly Jan van Kalkar & Domenico Campagnola contributed."
