Semi-quantitative analysis of urine for presence of bacteria (bacteriuria) in a hospital pathology laboratory. The method allows for a roughly measured amount of urine to be cultured. The white strips of filter paper are dipped in urine samples to the level of the black line before being transferred to the culture medium in the petri dish. The weight of the resulting growth gives an estimate of the number of bacteria per millilitre of urine.
