On the video display at lower right, several brown amyloid plaques, a characteristic symptom of Alzheimer's disease, can be seen amongst the tissue. This specimen is from the frontal cortex of the brain, which controls personality and creativity. Alzheimer's disease causes dementia, the symptoms of which include memory loss, disorientation, personality changes and delusion, eventually resulting in death. There is no cure, and extensive research is continuing.
