Dye test on a Fallopian tube. Endoscope view of a dye test (with methylene blue) of the permeability of a Fallopian tube. The dye (blue) has coloured the open ends (centre right) of the tube that are seen spread out over its ovary (white). It is this structure that receives an egg (ovum, female reproductive cell) when it is released from the adjacent ovary. The egg is transported down the rest of the Fallopian tube to the uterus (red, lower left). The rest of the tube is at lower centre, just below the ligament that attaches the ovary to the uterus. This is a common test to see if a tubal blockage is causing female infertility. In this case the permeability was normal.
