Tibetan medical charts. A display of charts (known as thankas) depicting Tibetan traditional herbal medicine. The central chart shows the vulnerable points of the human body. The lines on the central figure show where the body is particularly vulnerable to external injury with other figures illustrating vulnerable internal organs. The chart at the right is a display of plants used in Tibetan herbal medicine and the chart at left is a display of herbal remedies. Tibetan medicine uses internal remedies such as herbs and external remedies such as acupuncture and massage to cure ailments. Photographed in Lhasa, Tibet.
