MODEL RELEASED. Intravenous drug injection. Community RGN (registered general nurse) on a home visit, giving an intravenous (IV) injection of the antibiotic Teicoplanin. An intravenous line (cannula) is a soft, flexible tube that is inserted into a vein to deliver medication, fluids or nutrition. The cannula can be left in place for up to three days and therefore can be used at home for short-term treatment. Teicoplanin is used to treat serious infections of the heart and blood, and can only be given by injection.
