Male breast reduction surgery. Man undergoing breast reduction surgery to treat gynaecomastia, the development of breasts in men. An incision has been made around the areolar (coloured part of nipple) and the skin is being pulled back by spreaders (one with an in-built light, centre). A cautery knife (blue) is being used to make the deeper incisions as it burns (cauterises) the skin and flesh to prevent bleeding. Fatty tissue is may be removed by liposuction or cut out with any glandular tissue. This surgery will restore the normal contours of the male chest.
