Paediatric colonoscopy: doctor using a flexible, illuminated fibre-optic endoscope to examine the interior of a child's colon and rectum; a second eyepiece allows an assistant or student an additional view. A colonoscope may also be fitted with flexible forceps to retrieve tissue samples for biopsy examination or a surgical snare to remove polyps (growths).
