Lung cancer. Gross clinical specimen of cancerous growths (rounded lumps) on the pleura, the membrane that lines the lungs and chest cavity. This cancer has spread (metastasised) from the breast. Symptoms of lung cancer include a cough, shortness of breath and chest pain. Secondary cancers such as this are much harder to treat than primary cancers, where the cancer hasn't spread from its point of origin. Anti-cancer drugs and radiotherapy may prolong life. Some breast cancer metastases respond well to hormone treatments as well.
