MODEL RELEASED. Finding human remains. Dog being trained to find a dead body. The handler is using a blood stain to provide scent training. Such dogs are called cadaver or body dogs. This dog is a labrador, an easily trained breed of the domestic dog (Canis familiaris). A dog has a powerful sense of smell that it uses to detect the gases and other odours given off by a dead body. It will be trained in several areas of search, such as surface searches, buried bodies, and bodies in water. Training is usually started at a young age.
