Pollination. View of a ladybird, Coccinella-7- punctata, pollinating a sunflower, a type of wild daisy. Both daisies and sunflowers belong to the plant family Compositae which bear a composite flower- head made up of numerous tiny flowers (florets). The flower seen here is composed of disc florets on which the ladybird is standing, surrounded by a ring of elongated ray florets. As the ladybird travels from flower to flower it transfers pollen, pollinating the female parts of the flower and resulting in the subsequent production of seeds. Photographed in Colorado, USA.
