Pollination. Bee visits flowering viper's bugloss plants, Echium vulgare. Insects such as bees feed on the sugary fluid (nectar) and pollen found in flowers. They are attracted to flowers by their bright colours. As they reach inside the flower to gather the nectar, the insect may become dusted with pollen. it may also brush pollen from another flower onto the flower's reproductive organs, so causing cross-pollination. Viper's bugloss is a perennial plant which grows in uncultivated fields and road verges in low-lying areas of Britain and Europe. It flowers from May to September.
