Occupation of the Convent of Churubusco 20 August 1847' painting by James Walker (1819-1899) American artist. Mexican-American War 1846-1848. American under command of General Winfield Scott defeated Mexicans commanded by generals Manuel Rincon and Pedro Anaya. General Twiggs to the surrender of the Convent from Anaya, and United States troops were billeted there until 7 September.
