Mary Delany (born Granville 1700-1788) Englishwoman of artistic and literary tastes. In 1743 she married Patrick Delany, an Irish churchman and friend of Dean Jonathan Swift. She created exquisite paper 'mosiaks' (collages), many of which are now in the British Museum. Engraving from Diary and Letters of Madame D'Arblay by Fanny Burney (London, 1843).
