Elinor Glyn (born Sutherland - 1864-1943). Glamorous British writer of sensational romantic novels. Originator of the term 'It' for sex appeal. The popular verse about her: Would you like to sin/With Elinor Glyn/On a tiger skin?/Or would you prefer/To err with her/On some other fur? alludes to a scene of passionate love on a tiger skin which features in her best known novel Three Weeks (1907). From a series of cards of Famous British Authors (London, 1937).
