The parish priest of Longarone, Don Pietro Bez, on the desertedsite where the old parish church used to stand now swept away by theenormous wave from the steep valley seen over his shoulder;Monsignor Bortolo Larese, his predecessor, also died under the wave.A project for a large new church entrusted to the architect GiovanniMichelucci is however being obstructed by the priest and theparishioners who are still without a school and much elsebesides.
