The little girl seems to claim her meal showing an empty bowl, the young woman, whose face is wrapped up in a large white handkerchief, gives a tired look at the spectator, keeps the winder under her left arm and grasps the spindle with her right hand. In the background are houses, a square with few passersby, a church with a late baroque facade and a bell-tower
