The oldest known burial is the 1439 stone of Rabbi Avigdor Kara. The 18th-century tomb of Rabbi L〃w, who died in 1609, and his wife Perl, is a popular tourist draw, as it is covered with stones, coins, and prayers. The last burial took place in 1787.
