Albertinaplatz, The Denkmal gegen Krieg und Faschismus, the Monument Against War and Fascism. Vienna, Austria. Erected in 1988-1991, it commemorates the victims of the Nazi regime and those killed in the air raids of the Second World War. At this place an air-raid shelter under a house called Philipphof collapsed during World War II. Many civilians died. In 1985, a monument against war and fascism was built here in memory of a dark chapter of Austrian's history, designed by the Austrian artist Alfred Hrdlicka. The gate of power is made of granite from Mauthausen. Mauthausen was one of the worst concentration camps during the Nazi-regime, Vienna, Austria.
