An exterior view of Turkish row houses, homes and apartments in Istanbul, Turkey, the row houses emerged as a housing typology in Istanbul towards the second half of the 19th century, following the emergence of the petite and middle bourgeoisie in Ottoman society. The row houses were left for use by lower-income citizens or squatter settlers.
