Galvanism. Engraved plate showing various pieces of equipment used to study galvanism, or static electricity. In addition to several plans for making a 'galvanic pile' (battery), there are also diagrams of experiments being perfumed on a frog's legs (upper left) and a cow's head (upper right). This plate was published in George Gregory's A Dictionary of the Arts and Sciences, printed at London in 1807.
