Apsley Pellatt (1791-1863), English glassmaker and politician. Pellatt was born in london and joined the family glass making business in 1811. In 1819 he took out his first patent on the manufacture of glass 'sulphides', in which a ceramic cameo is implanted into side of a glass object when still hot and the glass closed behind it. He developed the technique to equal that of Baccarat in France, the greatest glass maker of the day. Pellatt served on the Common Council of the City of London and, from 1852-7, as Member of Parlaiment for Southwark in London.
