Silkworms (Bombyx mori) on mulberry leaves. The silkworm, the caterpillar of the silkworm moth, uses its chewing mouthparts to feed on mulberry leaves. When it is ready to pupate, the silkworm produces threads of silk with which it constructs a cocoon. The silkworm is farmed for the silk, obtained from the cocoons, which is woven into cloth.
