Starbirth region near NGC 2074. Hubble Space Telescope (HST) image of nebulae in a starbirth region near the star cluster NGC 2074 (top left). This is a region where nebulae (dust and gas clouds) glow under the impact of radiation from newly formed stars. The colours indicate three chemical elements: red shows emission from sulphur, green from hydrogen, and blue from oxygen. NGC 2074 is located in the Large Magellanic Cloud in the constellation of Dorado and is around 170,000 light years from Earth. The area seen here is around 120 light years across. This image was obtained in 2008, using HST's Wide Field Planetary Camera 2 (WFPC2).
