As the shadows lengthen at the end of a blistering day, a Himba mother and baby return to their dome-shaped home. Their bodies gleam from a mixture of red ochre, butterfat and herbs. The mother's long hair is styled in the traditional Himba way and is crowned with a headdress made of lambskin, called erembe. All her garments are made of leather.
