Golden orb-web spiders (nephilla madagascariensis) in the Andasibe-Matandia National Park east of Antananarivo. Formerly known as P_rinet, this national park comprising 810 hectares of moist montane forest has an exceptional variety of lemurs, birds, reptiles and frogs. The gold web of the nephilla spider is the largest and strongest of any spider. The female spider, hundreds of times larger than its male counterpart, is in the centre of the web; the male lurks around the edge.
