Karo men dance by jumping up in the air holding hands. Each age group of warriors come forward in turn and dance together, advancing as they dance higher and higher until they finish with a last high leap. A small Omotic tribe related to the Hamar, the Karo live along the banks of the Omo River in southwestern Ethiopia. They are renowned for their elaborate body art using white chalk, crushed rock and other natural pigments.
