Leopard (Panthera pardus) with a gazelle carcass. This solitary carnivore hunts small prey such as antelope and hares. It stalks its prey to within a few metres before pouncing. The prey is then killed by a nape or throat bite. Despite its size and body weight, the leopard moves with agility in trees and will often drag its victim up into the branches before feeding. Photographed at the South Luangwa National Park, in Zambia, Africa.
