Black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus) on a shingle beach. This gull has a brown head in the summer and a white head in the winter. It breeds in Europe, Asia and eastern Canada. It is a small gull, with a wingspan of 94-105 centimetres and a length of up to 44 centimetres. The black-headed gull is an omnivorous and migratory bird, migrating further south in winter. Some birds are resident to western Europe and some will migrate to northeastern United States. Photographed in November, in Kent, UK.
